Golf gloves help...

31 December 2006

...and so does focussing on the ball! All is good in the world - the Corporate Golfer demonstrated improved performance at the driving range. After again positioning himself at the quiet side of the range (modesty is a good quality, especially if you have a lot to be modest about!), the Corporate Golfer found himself behind a "cuddly" lady whose black panties were sticking out of her white pants (some gals don't seem too concerned about this), her boyfriend sat on a seat behind her barking out the occasional instruction on how to improve her swing (clearly making a last bid for the man-of-the-year award)...and every now and then hitting a shot to show her how it was done.

...after knocking 2 dozen balls the blister on Corporate Golfer's left index finger ruptured...this is a new blistering spot (perhaps an indication of doing something right?)...and off he went to buy a glove...apparently gloves improve matters, as can be evidenced by the practise session stats. The great thing about stats is that one doesn't have to merely go with that amorphous feeling that things went well - one can see in black on white on paper how good the session was. The other trick which the Corporate Golfer picked up was focussing on the ball....if you really lose yourself in the ball as you swing, there seems to be more consistency - they weren't lieing - keeping your eyes on the ball helps!

Interesting that 50% of the shots were hit solid in previous sessions...and this has improved to 83%. Even better is that 55% of the shots were straightish...more than half- that's reason to celebrate. The remainder of the shots were almost evenly spread between hooking and slicing.
